Abstract

This book, published in 2021 by Bedri Cumhur Doğu and Okan Kaya, consists of related news clippings that were reflected in the newspapers in the early Republican period. The book aims to convey to the reader the impact of the practices aimed at closing the lodges and zawiyas on Bektashis through the news reflected in the press. Bektashi dervish lodges were closed together with other sects and all kinds of sect practices were banned within the scope of the law enacted in 1925 for the closure of lodges and zawiyas. While the Bektashis complied with these law requirements, they tried to maintain the sect's requirements by carrying their rituals to their homes in secrecy. As a result of the exercises carried out in this context, these meetings held at homes were raided and many Bektashi babas and dervishes were arrested and referred to the jurisdiction.
